Panelist Bios:

Caitlin Sislin:

In her role as Advocacy Director for Women's Earth Alliance, Caitlin coordinates legal and policy advocacy support for women environmental justice leaders in North America. Caitlin previously worked with Natural Resources Defense Council; Earthjustice; the Center for Law, Energy and Environment; and Argentina's Center for Human Rights and Environment. As an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Stephan C. Volker, Caitlin oversaw the initiation of a lawsuit against the United States Environmental Protection Agency for violations of federal pesticide laws. While a law student at U.C. Berkeley, Caitlin chaired the Environmental Law Society and initiated the first annual Environmental Justice Symposium. She participated in AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps after graduating from college, and is an active member of the Chochmat HaLev and Wilderness Torah communities based in Berkeley, CA.

Erin Potts:

In her early twenties, Erin Potts created the Tibetan Freedom Concerts with the Beastie Boys. Described as the “Best Festival Ever”, the concerts produced international awareness, while mobilizing hundreds of popular musicians, raising over $5 million, and turning tens of thousands of young people into activists for Tibet. For nearly two decades, Erin’s work with culture makers has melded music and activism into increasingly compelling, creative, and effective engagement strategies. Today, she continues as a resource for hundreds of musicians on activism, philanthropy and advocacy through www.atctower.net.

Daniel Kaufman:

Daniel is the Founder and Director of the One Percent Foundation, an organization dedicated to building a broad based movement for next generation philanthropy. Daniel also founded and manages 360 Philanthropy Advisors, a philanthropic advisory and consulting firm. Prior to starting 360, Daniel worked as the General Counsel for Revolution Prep, an educational services and products company, and as an associate at Heller Ehrman, LLP in San Francisco. Previously, Daniel served as a Legislative Assistant for the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and the Interfaith Alliance, working on issues ranging from campaign finance reform to foreign policy. Daniel has a J.D. from UCLA School of Law and a B.A. from Stanford University. He and his wife, Talia, are raising their daughter, Mia, to be a die hard Sacramento Kings fan.

Jon Gilgoff, L.C.S.W., Founder and Executive Director of Brothers on the Rise

For over ten years, Jon has designed, delivered and directed responsible empowerment programs for males. Before becoming a nonprofit administrator, he was active in the fields of counseling, conflict resolution and cross-cultural relations. He is a Licensed Social Worker, a Spanish speaker, a D.C. Court trained Mediator, a published writer, and has trained and consulted nationally and abroad. He has served on the Advisory Board of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network and been a Bowne Foundation and Progressive Jewish Alliance Fellow. He holds his B.A. from Tufts and his M.S.W. from Columbia. Jon is an alum of AJWS Volunteer Corps in Honduras in 2003. He's run a couple of marathons and poetry collectives, too. You may also catch him anywhere there's music or a rug to be ripped, deep in thought or a fit of laughter.
